GMO is the word for modifying the DNA in foods by genetic system techniques. Common GMO ingredients are soybeans, corn, pure cotton, alfalfa, tomatoes, canola, carbs cane, sugar beet, lead capture pages and sweet peppers. Foods are modified to make them more resistant that will pests and disease also to meet the increasing demand for food all over the world. Proponents of GMO assume that this technique reduces the utilization of pesticides and causes significantly less soil erosion. Critics believe that a defieicency of long term testing to decide if chemically changing foods is unhealthy for the body is perilous. There is also concern with no labeling and regulation on the healthiness of consumers. For example, in certain areas, animal feed continues to be genetically modified and no labeling should be used when this food is fed with an animal. The public next consumes such items while milk, cheese, eggs and meat as a result of these animals without ever previously knowing GMO feed was handed to them.
That could be all confusing, yes? Should it mean it is harmful, not necessarily? It just means that there will not be enough testing done yet to look for the long term affects in which GMO foods may have on our bodies and the environment. There should be more regulation not to mention supervision on companies producing these foods to check the public is protected. Being informed and reading labels is it is important an individual can conduct. As with all points in life, everything inside moderation.
