For the majority of us, the only consequences of eating foods are a few excess fat, a little indigestion maybe a few more minutes while in the gym. But for the close to 12 million Americans that have food allergies, the pins are much, much greater.

Take San Jose person BJ Hom, for illustration. At the tender time of 18, he tragically lost his life owing to anaphylactic shock after unknowingly ingesting trace numbers of peanuts, to which she or he was extremely allergic. A celebratory family trip turned into a fathers and mothers worst nightmare that afternoon, but BJs parents are determined to show their family's tragedy into a way to educate in the desires of preventing it right from happening to others.

This was the worst and many heartbreaking day in our livesTo today I still can't believe for some reason happened. But it would happen, and that is the reason why I am on a good mission now, said BJs parent, Brian Hom, in a great interview with AllergyMoms. com. Relating to two other boys at your home, BJ's brothers, who get peanut allergies, too. I want the world to learn that food allergies are real and this is exactly what can happen if an individual prepared to deal at their side.

The Homs teamed up together with the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) to set-up the BJ Hom Obituary 5K Run, which will raise necessary funds that will support FAAN's mission to get public awareness, provide advocacy and advance research for all those affected by means of food allergies and anaphylaxis.

The run is set to occur at 8: 00 an important. m. on Saturday, Oct 8, at Lake Cunningham Dog park in San Jose. Number is $30 online or perhaps $35 on race evening; for more information or to produce a donation, visit the BJ Hom funeral service 5K Run page listed here.
