A new report on the April issue of ShopSmart magazine discloses some fallacies behind some foods we eat, thinking they're accomplishing themselves a favor. Seems they're not all their cracked approximately be and there are undoubtedly better choices.
1. VEGETABLE MONEY: Theyre usually elevated in calories and fat and so they dont count as any serving of vegetables.
Rather: Have some air-popped stovetop popcorn or dried veggies. Try the Just Tomatoes model of dried vegetables because they have got no added fat, sodium, or anything else.
2. GRANOLA: Its usually loaded with sugar, fat, and calories and relatively low in vitamin supplements. There are about 400 calories within a cup.
Instead: Have a very good bowl of an airy, oat-based cereal, just like Cheerios, which topped ShopSmarts past tests of kid-friendly cereals. For the purpose of extra crunch and sweet taste, add just a sprinkling of granola top most.
3. TURKEY HEATED DOGS: A many them are surprisingly full off fat, and some actually higher in fat as compared with regular hot dogs. And also they might contain loads for sodium and nitrates.
In its place: A turkey breast sandwich can be a better choice. But any time youre really craving which usually hot dog, read packages and buy the turkey version using the least fat.
4. VITAMIN-INFUSED OCEAN: There are some included nutrients, but theyre often full of sugar and sometimes level of caffeine.
On the other hand: Have water with a squeeze from your lemon, lime or citrus slices.
5. WRAPS: Theyre usually huge -- enough for two main people sometimes -- and rich in calories and sometimes extra fat. White-flour tortillas often contain 300 to 400 calories from fat alone, and offer little vitamins and minerals.
In its place: Have a sandwich about whole-grain or whole-wheat bread. When purchasing for bread, make sure whole fiber is first on a ingredient list.
