Have you been searching for a place to walk beyond the traffic and disturbance, but don't want to drive far away to get there? Garden of your Gods in Colorado Springs boasts a Walk for Wellness each individual Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock. This was started within September and anyone can join regardless of what level of walking you're around, and it's FREE! You will find there's one-, two-, or three-mile self-directed walk out there, with maps of encouraged walking routes. The females (and men! ) meet from the lower lobby of visitors Center to choose the route, though you can walk any route you experience comfortable doing. The group heads out towards parking lot for some stretches before starting the walk around the block.
At the end on the walk, there will often be a free nourishing snack and water waiting you. While you take and relax, there may be a presentation of fun facts and the informatioin needed for Garden of the Gods. Typically the presentation on Nov. 16th had been about mountain lions. We discovered their territories (16-22 pillow miles for males, 12-18 rectangular miles for females), and what do you do if you should match one (makes yourself as large as possible and make a lot of noise! ). Coming coming from Southern California, I had no idea in the least about mountain lions.
It's an ongoing weekly walk around the block, weather permitting, so you can actually join up anytime. All that's required is a set good walking shoes. Depending on time of year, you must wear sunblock and the hat, and water is always the good thing to take with people. The leader of that group, Jeanne McElderry, has a sign up sheet if you wish to have information emailed you regarding if the walk might be cancelled for any good reason. There is also home elevators upcoming events available. A Full Moon Hike while in the Garden will be organised on Dec. 10, 2011, by means of groups leaving starting in 6: 30 PM. The associated fee is $5 for Older people, or $12 for the entire family. You will want to dress with the weather, wear sturdy boots, and bring a torch. For more information, satisfy contact Jeanne McElderry in (719) 219-0198, ext. 404.
In the event you enjoy walking in a lovely area and learning about Garden from the Gods, the Wellness Walk would be the place to be!
